Bill Thurman, long time member of Fuel Department at SCS has passed away.
Bill’s wife Mary Alice Thurman let us know that Bill passed away this week. There will be a visitation at Vestavia Methodist Chapel at 10:00, followed by a service at 11:00 on April 30.
Don Smaha passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife, Sondra after 61 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son John and his wife Robyn, his grandson Wes and his wife Ashley, his brother Joe and his wife Shirley, his sister Carol Smaha Cheshire and her husband Monty, and several nieces and nephews.
Don obtained his Electrical Engineering degree from Auburn University and his Masters degree from UAB. He served in the US Navy Seabees and 2 tours in South Vietnam. He worked at SCS for 30 years in the System Planning Department and in the Technical Service Department.
Don was a devoted husband and father and will be missed. He was buried Tuesday, April 13, 2026 at Elmwood Cemetery.
