10/14/2013:

Our sympathy is extended to SCS/SNC retiree, Nell King Larson, in the death of her husband, Al.  Al passed away Saturday night, October 12.  Visitation and funeral service will be at South Highland Presbyterian Church, 2035 Highland Avenue, Birmingham, AL on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.  Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 pm, and the funeral service will be at 1:00 pm.

In addition to Nell, our sympathy is also extended to Barbara Jones in the death of her daughter-in-law, Tracy Jones.  Visitation for Tracy Jones will be Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., and the funeral service be begin at 11:00 a.m. at Briarwood Presbyterian Church off I-459 at Acton Road.

Visitation for Janice Thies, wife of SCS/SNC retiree, John Thies, will be Friday, October 11, 2013, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

We also need to remember AL Larson, husband of SCS/SNC retiree, Nell Larson.  Al is under hospice care at home.

Our sympathy is extended to SCS/SNC Retiree John Thies and his family in the passing of his wife, Janice.  Janice, who was suffering with colon cancer, died this morning.  Arrangements are not available at this time, but will be forwarded to you later.  Funeral services will probably be Thursday or Friday at Southern Heritage with burial at Elmwood.

Several retirees have inquired recently about Scotty Herron.  Scotty was a member of our retiree organization several years ago, but was not presently a member.  However, I did want to call your attention to his obituary which was in today’s paper.  It states that he passed away on October 3, 2013.  Visitation will be on Monday, October 7, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL.  Graveside services will be on Tuesday, October 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.  Our sincere sympathy is extended to his family.

9/16/2013:

Martha Dorrance, wife of SCS/SNC retiree, Jay Dorrance, had gallbladder surgery this morning at St. Vincent’s.  Her surgery went well, and she is now at home recuperating.
