Feb. 9,1948-July 11,2015 Donna was born in Russellville, AL on February 9, 1948. She passed away in Birmingham, AL on July 11, 2015. Donna graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1966 and attended Jacksonville State University. She retired from the Southern Company in 1997. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jones Tyra; father, J.L. Tyra; her son, Matthew Ellison; and her granddaughter, Emma Tyra Cody. Donna is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Ellison; daughter, Stephanie Ellison Cody; former son-in-law William Cody, Jr.; and her lifelong best friend Lynda McAlpin. Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 14, from 5-7pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service was be held on Wednesday. July 15, at 11:00am at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
