Clarence G. Fleck Jr.

Clarence G. Fleck Jr. (Buddy), age 93, long term resident of Homewood passed away on Friday, the 22nd of April, 2022. Clarence was born June 24, 1928 to the late Clarence Sr. and Mable Fleck. Buddy graduated from Phillips High School and the University of Alabama. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Hayes Aircraft for 15 years then he joined Southern Company where he retired after 22 years of service.

Buddy had a passion for sports and received a scholarship from the University of Alabama to play baseball and was a member of the A Club. He pitched for the Tide until a shoulder injury ended his career. Buddy was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and served on Sunday mornings for many years and also volunteered with the homebound. In addition to baseball he loved to fish and play golf. He was an avid Bama fan and pulled for the Tide every weekend in the fall. Buddy loved to spend time with his family, especially every summer at the beach. Buddy would do anything for anyone,had the most tender heart and was the perfect example of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Julius Fleck and Jim Fleck. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Mary C. (Kitty) Fleck, his daughters Pam Dixon (Eric) and Leigh Ward (Terry), his grandchildren Allie Miller (Scott), Ashley Santelli (Carlos) and Adam Dixon (Amanda) and by his great grandchildren Noah Miller and Cole Miller.

A visitation for Buddy will be held Wednesday, the 27th of April, 2022 beginning at eleven o’clock in the morning at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209, with the funeral service following at twelve o’clock in the afternoon.
