Euel Wade

Euel Wade, 85 of Lakemont, Georgia passed away peacefully Sunday, October 23 at his homeon Seed Lake. Euel was born in Fulton County, Georgia on June 8, 1937.

He grew up in Jackson, Georgia and graduated from Jackson High School in 1955. Euel attended Georgia Tech for one year before accepting an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated from West Point and married his high school sweetheart, Julia Ann Pettigrew, on his birthday, June 8, 1960. Euel served in the US Army as a Ranger in the 101 st Airborne Division.

After 3 years, he resigned as a First Lieutenant and accepted a job with Georgia Power
Company. After multiple positions with Georgia Power Company and 19 years of service, Euel transferred to Ga Power’s parent company, The Southern Company, as Vice President of Data Processing. He also served as Sr. Vice President of Information Resources. Euel received his MBA from Georgia State in 1982 and his Executive MBA from Stanford in 1986. He retired from The Southern Company in 1995 as their Chief Information Officer.

After retirement, Ann and Euel moved full time to Rabun County, Georgia where he became very active in civic affairs. He served as President of Rhapsody in Rabun, President of the Seed Lake Association, President of Northeast Georgia Ambassadors Club and President of Northeast Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center. He was also a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Rabun County Medical Foundation and the 100 Club of Rabun County. Euel served as an elder at Clayton Presbyterian Church.

Euel’s favorite pastimes were traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. Those who knew Euel loved him. He was the perfect gentleman, was smart, witty and driven. He could fix anything and always had a To Do list in his front pocket. He loved being with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ann Wade. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Donna Wade of Cumming, GA, son and daughter-in-law Bill and Suzanne Wade of Clarksville, GA, grandchildren Morgan and Blake Wade (and fiancĂ© Emily Harlow) and Taylor and Hailey Wade, and many other family members and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Saloni Tanna and her team at Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Associates and Clinic and the wonderful team at Northeast Georgia Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Saturday November 12, 2022 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, Georgia.

A memorial service and celebration will held on Saturday November 12, 2022 in the Chapel of the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, Georgia at 11:00 am with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating.
