April 10, 1936 – Dec. 25, 2014 Charles Howard Birchfield, 78, of Chelsea, AL died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by family who loved him. He was retired from Alabama Power Company with over 40 years of service. Charles was a loving husband, remarkable father, and incredible granddaddy who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He truly loved camping and traveling, and those traditions have been passed on to his family. Words cannot describe the love he gave to all his family and friends and he was clearly loved by all who knew him. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy Birchfield, and brother-in-law, Coolidge Sims. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda K. Birchfield; daughters, Terri (Paul) Tucker and Kelly (Brad) McDonald; grandchildren, Charli Reaves, Jami Reaves, Isabella Tucker, Kayti Reaves, Bailey McDonald, and Payton McDonald; sisters, Ethel Sims and Betty (Tom) Snowden; and brothers, Paul (Shirley) Birchfield and Gerald (Cheryl) Birchfield. Visitation will be one hour before the 1 p.m. service Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL.
