July 28, 1927 – Feb. 21, 2016: Bill Hinton, a resident of Birmingham, passed away at the age of 88. A graduate of Ensley High School, he served our country in the Navy during World War II. He attended the University of Alabama where he played the trumpet in the Million Dollar Band. Bill retired after 34 years with Southern Company Services where he was licensed in three states as a structural and architectural engineer. After retirement, he worked as a pilot for Alabama Air Foto. He was a founding member of the Central Park Boys and a member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 63 years, daughters Elizabeth Martin and Ginger Edwards, son-in-law John Edwards, grandchildren Crys Martin, Dave Edwards, and Kate Edwards, cousin Archibald White, brother-in-law Wallace Day, sister-in-law Billie Day, nephew Mike Day, and niece Kris Beatty.
