Technical Services Organizational Moves

In an effort for E&CS to increase our resources in operations and leverage our talent, we are pleased to announce the following E&CS Technical Services organizational moves:

Ronald Raines will be assuming the role of Operations Manager in Technical Services, replacing Ken Carr. Ronald began his career at Alabama Power in 1983 at Gorgas Steam Plant where he spent 25 years in several classifications before progressing to an Operations Specialist and Operations Team Leader. Ronald has served in the Operations Manager role at various locations since 2008 including plants Branch, Watson, and Gaston. He has also been heavily engaged with the ACE Operations Excellence team serving as a subject matter expert for supercritical units. His extensive experience prepares Ronald for this new role where he will be able to influence Southern Company Generation’s operations strategy going forward. Ronald’s responsibilities will be for the overall Operational focus, including Monitoring & Diagnostic Center, OIS initiatives and heat rate.

Ken Carr will now be solely focused on his role as Fleet Asset Manager. With the addition of Ronald joining the organization in the Operations Manager role, this will allow Ken to be dedicated full time towards the optimization of our environmental technologies around our fleet projects and ensure that consistency and best practices are in place during our implementation of our scrubber’s and baghouses. Ken recently achieved 40 years of service within Southern Company where he has worked in GPTS, Fuels Department and in several plants as an operations manager, engineering manager, fuel handling manager and assistant plant manager. Ken’s knowledge, experience and relationships across the fleet makes him well suited for these responsibilities within E&CS.

Additionally, Randy Stovall and the Generations Plant Performance group will move over to the Technical Services Mechanical Field Support group and will report to Tracy Cook. This move allows Technical Services to align synergies with GPP and Mechanical Field Services for our customers.
