T. J. (Kit) Slatsky

Message from Stan Wilke about Mike Slatsky’s Dad:

We are saddened to tell everyone that our dad, T.J. (Kit) Slatsky has passed away. He was 83 years old. Those that knew him know that when God made dad, He threw away the mold. In his young days, he grew up in the Brookside community and from what a have been told, he was a really good basketball and baseball player. He met my mother, Martha, and from then on, it was Kit and Martha, Martha and Kit. They married and created a family and settled in Minor. He was an electrical engineer and worked for Hayes International and, most of his career, he worked for Southern Company. But that is not what defined dad. Dad was unapologetically Catholic, fiercely protective of his family, somewhat of a jokester, and was extremely giving. He was coach, mentor, and dad to many other children in the community. He was best man to all 3 of his boys and as good of the father that he was, he was even a better grandfather.

Dad’s funeral mass will be Thursday, March 24 at noon at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Leeds. From 11-12, there will be a visitation. He will be buried next to Martha at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Brookside following the mass.
